    Working visit of the Moldovan Parliament Speaker to London

    Mr Andrian Candu, Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament paid a working visit to London on 11-12 December 2017. The Moldovan Parliament Speaker has had several meetings with the British MEPs, including the members of the UK-Moldova Parliamentary Friendship Group, chaired by Mr John Whittingdale. The discussions during the meetings focused on the political developments in the Republic of Moldova, EU-Moldova relations, the central public administration reform etc. It has been reiterated the mutual interest to further consolidate inter-parliamentary dialogue, including the organisation of working visits between the two countries.

    As part of his working visit, Mr Candu participated in a Conference on Road Safety and achievement of Global Sustainable Development Goals on Road Safety held at the EBRD (the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) headquarters.

    During his speech at the Conference, the Speaker mentioned about the legislative measures adopted to improve road safety and thanked partners for their assistance for infrastructure development in our country. The event was attended by Lord Robertson, the former NATO Secretary General, and Mr Barry Sheerman MP, Chair, Global Network for Road Safety Legislators.

    Mr Candu also participated in a round table discussion on regional security issues held at the British Institute RUSI.


    • Global Conference on Wine Tourism

      The Republic of Moldova has received the title of the "World Capital of Wine Tourism in 2018", in the context of hosting, for the first time, and under the aegis of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), of the III-rd edition of the Global Conference on Wine Tourism, in the period September 20-23, 2018.

    • British actor awarded for his work in Moldova

      Tony Hawks, the British actor and comedian, was awarded the British Empire Medal by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of his support for children with disabilities in the Republic of Moldova, as well as of all support provided by the Tony Hawks Centre in Chisinau.

    • Announcement

      On 22 August, Vilen Murzac, Charge d`affaires a.i., visited Spanish Embassy in London and expressed full solidarity with the Spanish colleagues, on the occasion of the appauling terrorist acts commited in Barcelona and Cambrils on 17 August 2017. Mr Murzac signed the book of condolences in memory of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the attacks.
