The Foreign Minister Andrei Galbur met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland
On 19 May 2017, in Nicosia, Cyprus, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Galbur had a meeting with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the current issues regarding the cooperation of the Republic of Moldova with the Council of Europe.

The European official highlighted the emphasis on justice reform and the fight against corruption, assuring the Moldovan authorities of the Council of Europe’s full support in this regard. As for the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, the Secretary General welcomed the confidence building measures projects undergoing on both banks of the Nistru River. He also supported the continued focus on identifying solutions aimed at ensuring the functionality of the Latin-Script Schools from Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova.

In order to develop and strengthen the constructive partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe in various fields, both officials agreed to continue the bilateral discussions in Chisinau, during the official visit of Mr. Thorbjorn Jagland to Moldova, scheduled to take place between 29 and 31 May 2017. On that occasion, the CoE Secretary General will participate also in the official launch event of the Council of Europe – Republic of Moldova Action Plan for 2017-2020.

    On 22 August, Vilen Murzac, Charge d`affaires a.i., visited Spanish Embassy in London and expressed full solidarity with the Spanish colleagues, on the occasion of the appauling terrorist acts commited in Barcelona and Cambrils on 17 August 2017. Mr Murzac signed the book of condolences in memory of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the attacks.

  • Moldovan Rock Band, Zdob si Zdub, will hold a concert in London

    Their first Eurovision experience is Moldova’s debut in the Contest, dating back to 2005. At the 50th edition Zdob si Zdub represented their country with the song "Boonika Bate Doba”, placed 6th in the Final.
