Foreign Minister Andrei Galbur met with Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muižnieks
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Galbur met today, 10 October 2017, with Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muižnieks, who is paying an official visit to the Republic of Moldova.
 
During the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on the achievements since the Commissioner's last visit in 2013 and reconfirmed the importance of the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe, implemented through the Action Plan 2017-2020. In this context, actions have been evoked to strengthen the independent institutions for human rights, justice reform and development of the new policy document in the field, carried out also with the support of the Council of Europe.
 
Minister Andrei Galbur welcomed the expertise provided by the Organization in its field of competence as determinant within ongoing efforts to advance the internal reforms. It was also greatly appreciated the Commissioner's work and role in promoting and protecting human rights at regional level, as well as in current crisis.
 
The European official emphasised the priority of justice reform and fight against corruption, assuring the Moldovan authorities of the Organization’s full support in this regard.
 
As for the human rights situation in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova, the Commissioner welcomed the confidence building measures projects undergoing on both banks of the Nistru River.

  • Meeting with High Commissioner of Jamaica in London

    On September 01, 2017, Mr. Vilen Murzac, Charge d`affaires a.i, ​​had a meeting with H.E. Mr. Seth George Ramocan, High Commissioner of Jamaica in London. The discussions cantered on mutual interest in developing bilateral relations in several areas and exploiting existing opportunities. In particular, the parties discussed cooperation in the framework of International Maritime Organization and other UN specialized structures.

    On 22 August, Vilen Murzac, Charge d`affaires a.i., visited Spanish Embassy in London and expressed full solidarity with the Spanish colleagues, on the occasion of the appauling terrorist acts commited in Barcelona and Cambrils on 17 August 2017. Mr Murzac signed the book of condolences in memory of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the attacks.

  • Moldovan Rock Band, Zdob si Zdub, will hold a concert in London

    Their first Eurovision experience is Moldova’s debut in the Contest, dating back to 2005. At the 50th edition Zdob si Zdub represented their country with the song "Boonika Bate Doba”, placed 6th in the Final.
