MFAEI welcomes the priorities of the of the OSCE Italian Chairmanship for 2018
On January 11th, was held the special meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council during which the head of Italian diplomacy Angelino Alfano, as acting Chairman, presented the agenda and priorities of the Italian OSCE Chairmanship.

The Italian Chairmanship aims to provide a conducive framework for the effective functioning of the OSCE and has adopted the motto “Dialogue, Ownership, Responsibility”, which will fundament the prospect of the Italian mandate throughout the year.

Particular attention will be paid to the migration crisis in the Mediterranean area and to the settlement of prolonged conflicts in the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and the Nagorno Karabakh region within the existing negotiation formats.

In cooperation with members of the OSCE Troika (Austria and Slovakia), with the Secretary General of the organization and the participating countries, efforts will be continued to promote security and stability in the OSCE area, the main position on the security agenda to be assigned to the crisis in Ukraine.

The Moldovan delegation to the OSCE delivered a national speech reiterating the necessity to promote the “5+2” negotiation process on Transnistrian conflict settlement and support for the peaceful conflict resolution in Ukraine. Permanent Representative Victor Osipov also emphasized the importance of strengthening the dialogue in the OSCE area on the basis of a comprehensive approach in the context of conflict resolution, proper functioning of mechanisms and autonomous institutions as well as of field missions.

At the same time, MFAEI welcomes the appointment of the Special Representative for the Transnistrian conflict settlement process of former Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini, known in the Republic of Moldova due to the support given to our country during his mandate as Vice President of the European Commission in 2004 -2008.

    On 11 March 2018, the Association of Moldovans in Great Britain organised a cultural and charity event called “MărțiShop 2018” in London.

  • IMO 70th anniversary

    The International Maritime Organization (IMO) celebrated its 70th anniversary with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 6th March 2018, at IMO Headquarters in London.


    On 2nd March 2018, Mr. Vilen Murzac, Charge d`affaires a.i. of the Embassy and H.E. Dr. Kevin M. Isaac, High Commissioner of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland signed the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis on the abolition of the visa regime for holders of diplomatic, official, service and ordinary passports.
