The issue of simplification of the travel regime for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the UK, discussed at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office
26 October 2018, London - The Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will support the efforts of the Moldovan authorities in the dialogue with the Home Office regarding the examination of the procedure for simplifying the travel regime for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. This position was expressed by Sir Alan Duncan, Minister of State for Europe and the Americas at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, during a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in London, Angela Ponomariov.

The subject of simplification of the travel regime has been addressed by the head of the diplomatic mission with a view to ensuring an appropriate post-Brexit bilateral legal framework in order to avoid the negative impact both on the activity of economic agents in our country after the United Kingdom’s exit from the EU, and other categories of citizens. Angela Ponomariov also emphasised that simplifying the visa regime will help stimulate and develop bilateral trade, expand cooperation in areas such as tourism, education, culture, etc.

Sir Alan Duncan and Angela Ponomariov also referred to the intensification of the bilateral political dialogue over the last period, the actions for mutual support in the international structures, the cooperation on security, emphasising the importance of expanding cooperation between the two countries on multiple areas.
